We Understand This Is Not Just a Car
Sometimes the car has been in the family for years. Sometimes it has been sitting in the garage since a parent moved into care or passed away. Either way, it is often one of many things the family needs to sort out at once.
We have been buying cars in White Rock since 2018, and we know these sales need a little more patience. You can take your time, ask as many questions as you like and choose a pickup time that works around the rest of your plans. There is never any pressure to accept our offer.
Common Situations We Help With
Whatever brought you here, the process is the same: a clear offer, simple paperwork and a pickup that fits your family’s plans. The car does not run? See our page on cars that have been sitting.

A Parent Who Has Passed Away
The car belonged to a mother, father or other relative who has died, and the estate needs to sell it.
A Parent Who Has Moved Into Care
Your parent no longer drives and has moved into assisted living or a care home. The car is sitting unused.
A Parent Who Has Stopped Driving
Your parent is still at home but has stopped driving and wants the car gone.
Downsizing a Family Home
The house is being sold or cleared out, and the car needs to go before moving day.
A Car That Has Been Sitting for Years
Flat tires, a dead battery or rust are no problem. We buy it as it is.
The Paperwork You Need
We can only buy a vehicle from the registered owner or from a person with proper legal authority to sell it. This protects you, your family and us.
If Your Parent Is Living
- Your parent signs: the registered owner can sign the paperwork at pickup, with their photo ID.
- Or you sign with legal authority: if your parent cannot sign, you need a legal document that gives you authority to act for them, such as a power of attorney.
If the Owner Has Passed Away
- The person handling the estate signs: usually the executor named in the will or the administrator of the estate.
- Legal authority is required: ICBC explains the steps and the documents it accepts on its page for when a vehicle owner has passed away.
- Driver’s licence: ICBC also asks families to cancel the late owner’s driver’s licence by bringing it and the death certificate, or a photocopy, to an ICBC driver licensing office.
For Every Sale
- The vehicle registration
- Photo ID of the person signing
- The ICBC Transfer/Tax Form (APV9T), filled in with you at pickup
- Licence plates removed before the vehicle leaves
- Autoplan coverage cancelled or moved at an Autoplan broker after the sale
Full details are in our BC paperwork guide.
The vehicle must be fully cleared. If there is still a loan on the vehicle, it must be paid off first.

How We Price a Family or Estate Car
Our offers usually start from around $200. The final amount depends on the year, make, model, kilometres, condition, size and weight of the vehicle, and current metal prices for older or non running cars. Read more about what the car is worth.
Many estate cars have low kilometres because they were only used for short local trips. A well kept older car can still get a good offer. Send us the details and a few photos, and we give you a clear amount.
Our offer promise
If the vehicle at pickup is different from the photos or description, we explain what changed and adjust the offer to the real condition before anything is signed.
Before the Car Leaves
Please take a few minutes to check the vehicle for personal and family items. Old papers, photos, keys and small keepsakes are often found in a car that has been owned for many years.
- The glovebox and centre console
- Under and between the seats
- The trunk and spare tire area
- Sun visors and door pockets
